I have recently added some links that will help you understand more about the people we work with here in Brazil and their culture. We live in a small city in the interior of our state Ceará and about 4 1/2 hours drive from the big capital city of Fortaleza. Here is a link to a map of our city (http://maps.google.com/maps?q=croat%C3%A1+brazil&hl=en&ie=UTF8&ll=-4.413506,-40.903022&spn=0.013821,0.021586&sll=-3.867815,-38.469587&sspn=0.01383,0.021586&t=h&z=16). We live in the Northeastern region of Brazil which is known for its folk/country style living. A regular meal in our region almost always contains beans and rice with some type of meat: beef, chicken, or pork. But some of our friends here eat anteaters and armadillos. There are also a lot of types of fruits and juices here: Orange, lemon, grape, cashew, passion fruit, guava, and many that you probably never heard of before.
Some of the links to the right are actual websites in the Portuguese language and other sites contain information about Brazil.
Feel free to teach about Brazil for Sunday School, Mission's conference, or VBS. Here are some ideas of how to use these links to teach about the lifestyle of Brazilians:
-Print some Brazil coloring pages of Brazilian fruit or animals. They are God's provision for us and show us something about God's care for us because he made them taste so good.
-Teach some Portuguese words. (Some sites contain printouts and you can contact us on pronunciation.) Explain how missionaries need to learn a language to communicate the Word Of God Correctly.
-Print the map and show the size of Brazil vs. the US and where we live interior.
-Print pictures (we can email a more recent photo) and explain the importance of prayer for missionaries.
-Get some fruits & foods of our region and have a taste test of the different flavors. Available in the US: pineapple, mango, guava, star fruit, cashew nut, coconut, ect…
